Konrad, born 1945, is a grandson of the first German chancellor. He studied law in Cologne and Freiburg im Breisgau. Until 2015, he practiced as a notary public in Cologne.
For five years Konrad was a member of the Cologne city council. Since 2009 he is chairman of the Koelner Haus- und Grundbesitzervereins von 1888 e.V., Germany’s second largest registered association for home and land owners. Konrad holds numerous high-level charity positions. In 2015 he became chairman of Stiftung Stadtgedaechtnis, a Cologne city trust to fund the restoration of historic archives. He is also chairman of the Friends of the Cologne University heart center, the Residential Home Konrad Adenauer Association of the Deutscher Orden which manages four retirement houses, the Cologne History Association and of the Friends of the Institut Francais. Furthermore, as a member of the board of the public trust Bundeskanzler-Adenauer-Haus in Bad Rhoendorf he is engaged in the commemoration of his grandfather.
Konrad is also a member of numerous other associations.
